What is Bandwidth?

Bandwidth is the data used to deliver your podcast episodes to your listeners. Factors like the number of listeners (downloads), the size of the audio file, and how often you publish new episodes all affect bandwidth usage.

Each of our plans comes with soft bandwidth limits. We're not going to immediately ask you to upgrade if you barely tip over a limit. But if your account requires more bandwidth than what your current plan supports for enough months in a row, we’ll reach out to explore alternative options — such as upgrading to a higher-tier plan.

It's important to note that the vast majority of Fireside users — over 99% — don't reach their monthly bandwidth limits and never need to pay for additional bandwidth. It's a rare situation and usually a good thing because it means your podcast is doing very well.
